House & Home, How To

How I propagated the fiddle leaf fig - Our Urban Box

I had a email the other day asking me how my propagated Fiddle Leaf Fig was doing and it reminded me that I was meant to update you all. Your just busting to know aren’t you?

Figgy.2 is doing really well. She survived the winter in the laundry. I thought she would die in there seeing as it is a pretty cold room but she was happy there – go figure!?!

She is now in the main bathroom where it is a bit warmer. I am trying to get her used to warmer temps and a bit more sunlight now. It is such tiring work growing a Fiddle Leaf Fig. Always second guessing my care and wondering if I am doing the right thing, am I going to kill it?

The best news? She has sprouted 3 new leaves since spring! 3! I am so happy with that.

Its going to be a long road till she grows as high as Figgy.1 and I don’t think she will ever be as lush as Figgy.1 but we are in it for the long haul so time will tell. I do need to get a little stake for her as she is drooping a little bit to the side.

Figgy.2 has been joined by a Dwarf Fiddle Leaf Fig too now. I picked up it up at Bunnings the other day. Figgy.2 isn’t a dwarf variety so hopefully she grows large and grand like Figgy did. Well, I can only hope hey!

Have you tried to propagate your Fiddle Leaf Fig? How’d you go?
