Taking Stock – February 2015

design 9

Pip from Meet me at Mikes started a taking stock list last year. Since then a number of bloggers have chosen to participate each month, including me. I love taking stock, taking a moment to reflect on what is happening around us, what I am thinking and feeling.

Making: Plans, lists, brainstorming ideas – so much going around in this head of mine!

Cooking: I made fried rice last night. Was awesome.

Drinking: Too much wine.

Reading: That Sugar Book – ok well I haven’t started it yet but I will soon.

Wanting: To believe in myself a little bit more.

Looking: Forward to a playdate with a new friend from school on Sunday.

Playing: Trying to teach Mr 5 how to play Connect 4. It is not going to plan. He gets so cross when I block him.

Deciding: On where we should stay in Sydney for a upcoming weekend away.

Wishing: I could just do everything I wanted too. So many things, not enough time.

Enjoying: Mr 5’s new school community.

Waiting: For my Saturday fishing expedition with Dad. Can’t wait. Hope we are having fish for dinner on Saturday!

Liking: This cooler weather, the nights are so balmy.

Wondering: If  I will ever stop spending and start saving. Its just so boring!

Loving: My Fiddle Leaf Fig. Who knew I would love a plant so much… its actually kind of ridiculous. I need therapy.

Pondering: How I should spend some birthday money. I could invest it in my blog or go on a big shopping spree…

Considering: Opening a small shop section to the blog, featuring select and unique homewares. What do you think?

Watching: The return of The Real Housewives of Melbourne – oh yeah!

Hoping: That the Dietician is kind to me tomorrow! Eeek, a bit nervous about what she is going to say.

Marvelling: At how the truth always comes out.

Needing: To get Miss 3 into a ballet class. The kid is desperate to do ballet.

Smelling: Hubby in his new aftershave – he smells damn fine.

Wearing: New Jeggings from Cotton On. Seriously amazingly comfortable and so cheap!

Following: thefeathertribe on Instagram, My new fav!

Noticing: How much sugar is actually in everything! Everything! Even fruit is being grown and altered to be sweeter. Argh!

Knowing: The trick to getting awesome back grounds for food photos is a pretty backdrop. And here I was thinking everyone had marble benches. Yes, I am that dumb sometimes.

Thinking: About how I will plan my revenge on the husband. He took a sneaky video of me to prove something and I will get my revenge!

Admiring: My fellow bloggers in my mentor group. They are all good eggs.

Sorting: Out the kids wardrobes. Always a little sad passing their old clothes on.

Buying: A cute outfit for Miss 3 from Witchery. This top and these leggings. Pretty cute huh?

Getting: Silly drunk with the girls. Its been a long 18 months between those two popping out babies! We have lots of catching up to do.

Pinning: New backgrounds for photography.

Disliking: The fact that online trolls have left one of Australia’s best bloggers broken and defeated. Shame on them.

Opening: Late birthday presents and prizes in the mail. Happy mail day today!

Giggling: At the stories Mr 5 is bringing home from school. Oh my lord, they get better each day.

Feeling: Excited. March is bursting full of good times to be had!!

Snacking: On boiled eggs and tuna. More protein and less sugar!

Coveting: A new camera.

Helping: Mr 5 to learn to tie shoelaces.

Hearing: Roxette! I downloaded their greatest hits album the other day. Don’t pretend you don’t love them as well. Whats your favourite song?

I’d love to hear what you are taking stock of this month. Choose a couple of the prompts above and let me know in the comments below.

Haha! Yes, I definitely love me a little bit of Roxette. I can’t remember all of the names of the songs now but I just started singing, ‘Let’s get dressed. For success. Lala lala for the good time baby. Yeah yeah yeah no no no’. That’s probably a few songs mixed in there but you know what I mean 🙂 You sure have a lot going on. Isn’t it fun teaching kids how to play games and not be a bad sport. Are we meant to let them win everytime? 🙂

Oh, I’m not having much luck with my commenting this morning. I just wrote a long comment reciting Roxette lyrics. Did you get it?

I love the Taking Stock posts! I’ve done two myself! Lovely to get to know you a little this way Fleur! I’d love to hear more about your blogging mentoring group. I would love to be part of a blogging mentoring group! I know about coveting a new camera – I’d really like to go ‘full frame’ but can’t afford to. When am I going to win lotto?!! 😉 xo

So glad you enjoyed it Min. I really love to do these each month! I’m in a group of about 9 bloggers and we have a FB page where we support each other, discuss ideas, and learn from one of Australia’s best bloggers. I am very lucky to be involved in such a great group. Why don’t you form your own group? Get together maybe 4 other bloggers and form your own support group. Having your own little tribe really is one of the keys I think.

We need so much more of the 80’s. Everything was simpler then and much more fluro!! Women can be so spiteful, I just don’t know why they have to be. xx

Taking stock is a great idea. I’m sure it takes discipline to do this regularly. I’m not sure I could do it, but I reckon it would be good to look back on such lists to be reminded. Especially of the good things in life. 🙂

It does take discipline but the hardest thing I find is to try and answer all the prompts! Sometimes I just have nothing and have to really think about it. Thats what I love most about doing them x
