One of the hottest trends in tiles at the moment is the hexagon. I think the hexagon tile is more interesting than the subway tile, which is also quite popular. I’ve had discussions with people who say the hexagon tile will date, but I think everything dates eventually! As long as you stick with white I think you will be fine.

The hexagon tile suits different interior styles as well. A plain white hexagon tile is a nod towards a Scandinavian style, where as a marble hexagon is very traditional, maybe even a bit Hampton-ish (yes I made that word up!!)

I splurged when choosing my tiles and have chosen a hexagon tile for my kitchen splash back and behind the vanities in the ensuite. Its the only real ‘luxury item’ outside of budget. I am using a white subway tile in the laundry and main bathroom. I picked hexagon tiles 12 months ago and still love them, so I have stuck with my decision. I can’t wait to show you! I am not worried about them dating, like I said, most things date eventually.

I wanted to show you some inspiration pics I have saved that I have been referring to when picking finishes for the new house. I keep looking back at these pics to reassure myself just in case! But no need to worry –  I do love the hexagon tile!

I think if you are deciding to use a hexagon tile you must consider whether you want to make a big statement or more of a subtle statement. Use a dark contrasting grout or a dark tile for a big impact. I have decided to match the grout and use white for a more subtle look. I love the contrast of a dark grout, but I think I would tire of it. But be warned – they are expensive!

What do you think of the hexagon tile?

I do love some good subway tile, especially white with dark grout. I don’t see a lot of hexagon, however you do have me thinking that it needs to become a trend. My favorite is the first picture that you have posted – dark hexagon tile and light grout, so gorgeous. Thank you so much for sharing!

    Hi Fleur,
Love the hexagon idea, totally agree with the bold design theory. Hampton-ish should absolutely be a word, I see what youre getting at =) Keep up the posts!

I love this trend, and I haven’t really seen it used much except online! I think it is an awesome style choice, and I am glad you posted this. Thanks for sharing!
