A Little Love Story..
Do you remember your first crush? That boy in the playground that you wanted to marry one day? The boy that made you all shy and giggly? I remember him. And it now appears that Mr 5 is him. Or was him. Sadly the romance has come to an abrupt halt after a 4 day engagement. I thought that I would at least get to primary school before Mr 5 found another lady to make him smile. I didn’t think that in the 2nd week of school, he would announce he is getting married.Let me tell you a little story about little love.
It is really quite adorable.
Miss P and Mr 5 went to preschool together. Even last year when ever we mentioned Miss P’s name he would never talk about her. Never. That should have been our first clue that he was in love. He remained very tight lipped when it came to Miss P.
Fast forward to the first week of school and Mast 5 tells us “I just can’t stop looking at her, she is just so pretty Dad”, then wait for it….. he lets out this big almighty sigh.
My little man is in love. He has his very first crush. And it is so cute. After a bit of prodding we learn that Miss P is most definitely the object of his affection, and he loves her from afar. I ask if he wants to be her boyfriend and kiss her. “No way mum, I just like looking at her…. she is so pretty”.
And then last Friday, when we got into the car after school, he is beaming. I mean smiling from one ear to the other, he couldn’t smile bigger if he tried.
“Me and Miss P are getting married mum. She chose me over Mr O and we are getting married”
WHOA! Hold up mate…. slow down….there is a love triangle?
“And I kissed her mum”
SAY WHAT NOW!!
“And she kissed me”
OH MY GOD…. kissing in the playground already? Nope, not these two. Apparently kissing in the classroom is totally the new thing in Kindergarten romance.
By this stage me and hubby are trying our best not to laugh. I mean, how sweet is it when your 5 year old proudly announces he is engaged (to a older lady no less) and he is kissing her on the cheek already. CA-UTE!!
That night we had a meet and greet night at the school. This canoodling in the classroom was the hot topic amongst the mums. Yep all the kids had reported back to the parents about the love fest in room KG.
Mr 5 remained in his loved up bubble until the following Monday. He quietly told me after school that Miss P didn’t want to marry him anymore and has now decided to marry Mr O, because she likes his hair better. Young love, it is so fickle.
Mr 5 is sad about his lost love. He still thinks she is pretty and has vowed that he will get married one day “when I am grown up like you mum”.
Do you have your own little story about little love? Do you remember your first crush?
