Lets get excited – Floorplan changes

We met with our builders today to go over the revised house plan. We came out the meeting so excited that this is actually happening, this dream of building our home is happening! Dream home on a budget that is!! Our builder was receptive to all our changes and let us know what will work and what doesn’t. We are really happy with what we have come up with. We have had to compromise on having a study and instead are having a study nook. And thats ok, we pretty much got everything else we wanted so can’t complain. We would have liked our ensuite to be bigger also, but again it wasn’t possible so we left it the size it is. The kitchen is quite large, as is the walk in pantry so more than happy with that.

Changes we made today –

>> Moved the stairs from one end of the deck to the other in a dog leg shape. The builder suggested this to keep the stairs under the roof line. It will eat into the deck a bit so I think we will make the deck a bit wider to accommodate this.

>> Added a toilet downstairs. Will be great when entertaining.

>> Spoke about putting a roller door outside under bedroom 2 so that we can access even more under house storage.

>> Removed one window in the kitchen and added windows to the living, rumpus and theatre.

>> Added double doors to the theatre.

>> Added a skylight in the main living area to ensure there is enough natural light coming in.

>> Reconfigured the Walk in Robe and Ensuite to be a more usable space. The space shown in the above photo is not what we decided to go with.

>> We moved the front section of the house over 200mm to make the front entrance wider.

>> Adjusted the roof line at the front so that it is wider across the front entrance.

We also went and picked up so flooring samples so we can start picking our finishes. We are still plugging away at the minor renovations we need to do around here. Tomorrow Adam has both his dad and my dad coming around to do some painting. I’ll be happy to go off to work tomorrow. I really don’t want to have to paint and so far I have managed to escape having to do any!

Tweeking plans is awesome! Unless you work from home or run a business, I think a study nook is a better use of space. Will look forward to seeing the final design!

It has been lots of fun so far. I agree re – study nook. I wanted a separate study as one day I would love to work from home, I have some big dreams about that! But it wasn’t to be. The 4th bedroom could always be a study anyhow if needed. As soon as I have final plans in I will be sharing!
