How to support your favourite blogger / Our Urban Box

Blogging is fun. I love it. But it is hard work. I didn’t actually realise how much hard work it is when I started. Blog posts can take anywhere from 30mins – to 4 hours to create. Writing, researching, taking photos or finding free stock images online, promoting, answering emails. Before I knew it, Our Urban Box took off and it has almost become a 2nd part time job. A part time job without a income. And that is totally cool. I am not here to make a 2nd income from my blog, whilst that would be nice in the future, at the moment I am just happy being here and doing what I love.

It got me thinking though. A lot of my blogging friends are the same. Blogging is their passion. They love it as much as I do. I want to show my support to the blogs I follow because I know how much work goes into a blog. And who doesn’t want to support their friends? I wrote myself a list as a reminder of ways I can support them. I though I would share that list with you today how to support your favourite blogger and show them some lovin’.

Read and Comment Each time you visit your favourite blog, their statistics increase. And while blogging isn’t all about the stats, good stats can bring opportunities to your favourite blogger which will result in better content for you and awesome giveaways. So make sure in pop in regularly to see whats new on your favourite blogs. After reading a post from your favourite blogger leave a comment. We love comments, we really do! They make our heart all warm and fuzzy. Ask questions, start a debate if you don’t agree with what has been said (in a nice way – Trolling is simply not acceptable), a simple thank you is often enough. Comments let bloggers know that you are loving what you are reading. So show some comment love the next time you read a post that you love!

➕ Share on Social Media – If you loved what you read, chances are your friends and family will love it as well. Share the post via Facebook, Twitter, or email. Bloggers love it when their work is shared on Social Media. At the end of each post you should see some Social Media icons, click these to share the post. If your a blogger and think your audience will love the post as well, share it on your blogs Social Media accounts. Sharing is caring!

Pin it – Pin it baby! Pin that recipe for later, Pin that gorgeous kitchen, Pin all of the things! I like to Pin recipes from my favourite bloggers because I know I will forget about them otherwise.

Follow on Social Media – Follow your favourite blogger on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. Chat to them on Facebook, like their photos and posts on Facebook and Instagram. Leave comments! Remember social media is a great way to connect and build friendships as well. Get amongst it and have some fun. Most blogs will have social media icons in their side bar – click on them and give them a like or follow!

➕ Subscribe to Newsletters – Show your support by signing up to newsletters and RSS feeds. This is a great way to stay in touch with what is new and exciting on your favourite blogs if you can’t remember to pop in each day. I subscribed to all my favourite bloggers this way plus I also follow them on Bloglovin. If you haven’t got that app on your phone yet – go do it now. I’ll wait for you.

➕ Buy their E-products – There really is a lot of work that goes into a e-product. So much work. So if your favourite blogger releases a e-product, show your support and buy it. They are normally only a few dollars and this all goes a long way to helping cover the costs of hosting and buying domains and such other things. The blogger releases e-products because they know their audience will appreciate the content and as a way to say thank you.

➕ Link up to their Link up parties –  If you are a fellow blogger, link up your posts to their link up parties. The more the merrier when it comes to link up parties!

Email and Say Hi – Receiving emails from you guys really makes my day. I cherish all the emails I have received and keep them saved in a special folder in my emails. Words of encourage, appreciation or just “I really loved that post on…” are the best! Who knows where that email may lead to? A new friendship or collaboration?

Enter their Giveaways – Bloggers love to run giveaways on their blog. Its our way of saying thanks for reading. When bloggers are just starting out, they often have to pay for these prizes out of their own pockets. So next time you see a giveaway on your favourite blog, enter! – Who doesn’t love to win a little something something?

These simple acts of kindness are easy to do! I know your favourite blogger will truly appreciate your support. How do you support your favourite bloggers? And who are your favourite bloggers? I am always keen to find more blogs to read.

Yep comments are like blogger crack; we can’t get enough 🙂
I used to spend so much more time blogging a few years ago, but these days I’m much more reserved. Blogging started as a way of writing, and now I write at other times, so it feels ok to not be on the blog so much 🙂
