Building, Our House

HOUSE UPDATE | LOOK AT THAT ROOF

House Facade

Safe to say – the new house is flying along now! Every time I post an update on my personal Facebook page, everyone comments about how quick it is going up now. We now have frames, a roof and windows! It has been great to walk through and see how the layout is going to work and the room sizes are all quite good. Its hard designing a floor plan when you are a visual person – I need to see and touch things!

I have been stressed about the roof colour, worried I had made the wrong choice. I ended up choosing Surfmist for the roof, gutters and facia – so all three the same colour (which isn’t what I normally do for clients – normally one is a different colour). Working with the builder, I help clients choose colours everyday but I just felt I couldn’t get it right for my own home. I think I have made the right decision as it will look great for the facade with the different shades of grey, but it won’t look as good on the sides (as the bricks are dark grey and the windows are white, it really needed a thirdย colour to break it up) But I don’t think it will worry me so much. I just wanted the facade to be perfect.

And there is the roof! Who would have thought I would ever be so excited about a roof? I hope to go back during the week and take some more pics with the windows in.

Have you built before? Did you have trouble choosing your colours?

A wider interior doorway and more substantial steps visually connect the addition to the rest of the house. Converting a 12 bonus room into a home office costs on average $13,143 and brings in $9,569 at closing.
